THE WHITESHELL HATCHERY INTERPRETIVE CENTRE

Fish Futures was a partner in building a 1,200 square foot self-guided interpretive centre near the fish hatchery.  It includes large aquariums and exhibits about the life stages of fish, the life of a trout, Manitoba Fish, Dinosaur Fish, and the art and science of fishing.  The facility opened on July 21st, 2001, and in the first year had over 4,000 visitors.  Project partners included Fish Futures, Manitoba Conservation Fisheries Branch, Parks Branch, and with the support of the Fisheries Enhancement Initiative.  With funding from the Fish Futures Banquet Committee, an observation deck was constructed nearby overlooking the Whiteshell River.
