About
Fish Winnipeg is a "free” youth fishing program that provides troubled or disadvantaged youth with an opportunity to experience recreational fishing which they may not have otherwise had. This program helps youth build self-esteem, develop new skills, and teaches respect for our environment.

Our Goal
The goal of Fish Winnipeg is to change the lives of youth for the better.

Fish Winnipeg works with the City of Winnipeg and local Community Centres to organize daily outings through the months of July and August. During these outings, two groups of youth are picked up by the Fish Winnipeg van, transported to various fishing locations within the City of Winnipeg and dropped off every day of the program.
Every child that participates receives a brand new “free” rod & reel combo, with the hope they will continue to fish and engage in this positive life-long pass-time for years to come. This program helps empower youth to realize there are other activities they can participate in. Fishing provides many social, mental and physical benefits.
Since its inception in 1998, Fish Winnipeg has provided over 10,000 youth in need of an alternative recreational activity by providing a space for fishing.
The program is funded by Fish Futures Inc. and coordinated by the Urban Angling Partnership, which provides recreational angling programs in the City of Winnipeg.

Providing valuable opportunities to youth within our communities!
